Volleyball History

The sport of volleyball initially called “mintonette” was introduced in 1895 by William G. Morgan after the development of b-ball just four years prior. Morgan, an alum of the Springfield College of the YMCA, structured the game to be a mix of the ball, baseball, tennis, and handball.

The hostile style of setting and spiking was first exhibited in the Philippines in 1916. Basic Volleyball Rules and Requirement

  • The net is kept in the center of the court and eight of 2.43m for man’s tournament and 2.24m for women’s tournament respectively.
